Does pressing ''restore'' on iTunes remove everyth

My iPhone 7 won't update in recovery mode because it gives me the ''4013 error''. It won't start either and gets stuck on the Apple logo.
Seems like all I can do is restore it, but I don't want to lose anything that is on my phone even if my only option is to restore its factory settings. I haveextremelyimportant photos and other data that I desperately need. I just want to see if there's any back up recently made which I can only see by restoring it.
Can I see if I made a recent backup without removing everything from my phone?
